Seriously.
I worked on the first line of toys and the sketches we were sent were tracings from his human torch comics. Noone would have noticed if I hadn't been reading those very comics the afternoon the project arrived from Hasbro
Of course, they do now.
I worked on the original King figure way back when he was called Minotaur and Payne was still going to be Dr X.
I don't know if you've seen any of the original models or anything but Minotaur originally had a huge afro and american football shirt and the prototype even had a 9carot gold chain.
The Water guy (Shark is it?) was originally called kyribdis and I think Hawk was Pegasis or something. all the characters were named after greek myths etc.
Even way back then I pretty much guessed what the good guy/bad guy team structure would be like. and correctly predicted the female team member and geek side kick type guy.
Fun project which was one of my last at that modelmaking company.
